More workplace injuries in Latvia in 2021

In 2021, 213 people were injured in the workplace, which is 28 more than in 2020, when 185 employees were injured in the workplace, according to the National Labour Inspectorate's information reported by LETA on January 16.

According to the information available to the Inspectorate, last year 32 people died in accidents at the workplace, ten more than in 2020.

The accident summary also includes a case related to the Covid-19 certificate; a supervisor of a store had asked a person without a certificate to leave the shop. An altercation ensued as a result of which the store employee sustained a fracture of the arm.  

The summary also explains the incidents ending fatally, which are mostly related to technical and physical work. The summary statistics (in Latvian) are available here.
