People who test positive with the Covid-19 antigen test, after recovery, will be able to avoid screening tests 60 days after the infection has been detected and not comply with quarantine in contact situations.
"In view of the increasing laboratory load and the difficulties in obtaining the PCR test, the antigen test is expected to be sufficient to establish the presence of infection. (...) In the 60 days following the detection of the infection, no quarantine shall be established for the recovered persons. Nor are screening tests carried out during these 60 days," Director of the State Chancery and the Head of the Operational Management Group, Jānis Citskovskis, said.
This will primarily apply to routine screening tests performed at schools and workplaces. In high-risk areas such as medical facilities and long-term social care facilities, the organization of screening tests should be guided by risks in each particular situation and by the possibilities for organizing the screening.
With the new amendments, a mandatory laboratory approval of a positive antigen test is abolished.
The changes also provide that, in the event of infection, the vaccination certificate is suspended for a period of seven days, not ten.
