Nine Covid-19 deaths Tuesday in Latvia

On April 5, 2022, Latvia recorded 1,401 new cases of Covid-19 infection, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of the newly-confirmed cases, 382 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 1,019 were fully vaccinated.

Out of 6,717 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 20.9% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population declined sharply from 1,610 Monday to 1,430 Tuesday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 804,288 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

Unfortunately, nine more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All fatalities were aged over 40 years. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 5,642.

Monday hospital data from the National Health Service show 777 patients being treated in hospitals (up on 763 the previous day). 76 patients were admitted and 82 were discharged during the previous 24 hours. 27 patients are displaying serious symptoms.

A hotline – 8989 – allows people to both register for vaccination and receive answers to questions about the process of vaccination will continue to operate. The number for medical emergencies is 113.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme
