November brings 772 new Covid-19 cases, 16 more deaths

Take note – story published 2 years ago

A total of 772 new cases of Covid-19 infection were added to Latvia's tally November 1, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). Monday's figure is usually the lowest of the week due to a reduced number of tests being carried out on Sundays.

Of the 772 cases, 510 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 262 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 219,911.

Of 6,892 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 11.2% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate reduced slightly for a second day in a row. After Saturday's record level of 1,801.2 cases per 100,000 of population, it fell to 1,770.7 Sunday and 1745.3 Monday.

Unfortunately 16 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed, the same number as Sunday. All victims were aged over 40 years and three of them were fully vaccinated. The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 3,269.

The level of hospitalizations continues to be a key indicator as hospitals are stretched to full capacity. Monday data show a record 1,592 patients being treated in hospital with 189 displaying serious symptoms.

Meanwhile in Estonia more than 1,400 cases and nine deaths were recorded Monday and in Lithuania the figures were more than 1,800 cases and 33 deaths.
