Number of hospitalized patients decreases

The number of Covid-19 patients in Latvia's hospitals decreased from 672 to 608 on Friday, with another 81 admissions and 136 discharges reported in the past 24 hours, the data of the National Health Service shows.

This the smallest number of patients hospitalized with Covid-19 since April 2, when 602 such patients were in hospitals.

Of the Covid-19 patients currently receiving treatment in hospital, 535 have symptoms of medium severity and 73 are severe cases.

In all, 11,923 Covid-19 patients have so far been discharged from Latvia's medical institutions.

As reported, Latvia confirmed 812 new Covid-19 cases and eight persons died of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, according to the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).

Latvia's cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population rose from 430.6 to 438.9. On April 7, the figure had dropped to 330.6 cases per 100,000 population but over the past week the figure has remained above 400.
