Over 100 Ukrainian doctors have permit to work in Latvia

The Latvian Medical Association (LĀB) has granted 113 Ukrainian doctors and dentists the permission to work in Latvia.  Altogether 180 doctors from Ukraine have shown an interest in the authorization to work, LĀB said on August 11.

The association provides free support for Ukrainian doctors in preparing and submitting the necessary documents, as well as the possibility of learning the Latvian language needed for work in the field of health care.

It is planned that a further 35 persons who have submitted documents will receive permits to practice soon, but the decision has not yet been taken.

Ukrainian doctors and dentists who have received practice permits are already working in both Rīga and regional major hospitals and medical institutions, as well as in the private sector, said LĀB. The medical authorities employing any doctor, including the Ukrainian, shall inform the Health Inspectorate thereof.
