Police to expand road traffic control possibilities

Take note – story published 1 year ago

Starting Saturday, February 18, the State Police will be able to record individual road traffic offenses using a new technique, State Police said Friday.

These technical means will monitor whether road tolls have been charged or a vignette has been purchased for vehicles for which this is required. Similarly, these vehicles may be tested for the purchase of OCTA and whether roadworthiness checks have been done.

Initially, checks will take place in the following places on the country's main roads:

  • Rīga–Liepāja (A9) at the kilometer 13.3;
  • Rīga bypass (A4) at 7.8 km;
  • Tīnūži–Koknese (P80), 13.4 km;
  • Rīga–Jelgava–Lietuva border (Meitene) (A8), 23.0 km.
