Over the past 24 hours, a total of 8,564 people were vaccinated against Covid-19, with a record number of persons getting their second jab, according to information from the National Health Service, newswire LETA reported April 22.

Given that data entry into the system is possible for several days, this number could still change. It is currently the second highest only to April 7 since the start of the vaccination process in the country.

The first dose of the vaccine was received by 6,215 people yesterday, but the second was received by 2,349 persons. This number of people receiving the second dose of the vaccine is the highest indicator since the vaccination process began.

In the first three days of this week, an average of 6,220 people were vaccinated per day, and in the last seven days, an average of 5,502 people per day, meaning the rate of vaccination has increased.

So far, 10.45% of the Latvian population have received the first dose of the vaccine, while 1.73% have got the second jab.
