Rīga Hospital No. 2 will be reprofiled for Covid-19 patient care only, Rīga City Council decided November 2.

The hospital will free 150 beds for Covid-19 patients along with the necessary medical equipment and human resources. An oxygen flow system will have to be built, the financing of which should be covered by the State. If there are delays, it will be covered by Rīga City Council reserve funds.

The Rīga local government has decided to create 300 equipped beds for Covid-19 patients in total: 150 in each Hospital No. 1 and No. 2. Rīga City Council Welfare Department head Irēna Kondrāte told Latvian Radio that Rīga has asked for over EUR 2 million for the cause and expressed hope the funding would not be delayed.

As the epidemiological situation gets better, the hospitals will return to normal work.
