Riga airport will step up monitoring of passengers

Following the government's decision to extend air travel to Latvia, in order to take care of the safety and health of passengers and employees, Riga International Airport, in cooperation with the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA), will improve monitoring of passenger surveys, the airport said in a statement September 4.

In accordance with the current regulatory framework, it is the duty of all persons to complete a survey before entering Latvia, indicating his or her personal data, the countries in which the person has stayed during the last 14 days, as well as by committing to comply with the epidemiological security measures specified in Latvia and indicating the place where the person will self-isolate himself or her if necessary.

This survey must be handed over to the crew of the aircraft.

On the other hand, airlines have a duty to collect the documents completed by passengers and transfer them to the State Border Guard, if the person has entered from a high risk State, or the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The State Border Guard shall forward the certificates to the State Police, which shall control the fulfilment of self-isolation requirements.

As the list of countries to which carriers are permitted to fly has been significantly expanded from 3 September, it is important to channel passengers as accurately as possible, so the airport will strengthen its monitoring of airlines' work on behalf of the CAA.

The airport will also collect and transmit to the CAA data on the number of passengers arriving and the number of surveys completed.

If the air carrier has not provided passengers with a survey, it will be handed out at the airport when passengers get out of the aircraft.

This may cause inconvenience, so the airport calls on passengers to be understanding and responsible and to fill out the survey before the flight. The surveys are available on the CAA website.
