Saturday adds 617 Covid-19 cases in Latvia

Another 617 new cases of Covid-19 infection were added to Latvia's total on November 20, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). The relatively low number is explained by the fact that fewer tests were carried out on November 19 than usually, as it was a national holiday.

Of the 617 new cases, 403 cases were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 214 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 245,623.

Of the 5,904 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 10.5% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population dipped from 862.3 Friday to 795.2 Saturday.

Unfortunately, 20 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All of the victims were aged over 50 years. Four of the fatalities were fully vaccinated individuals. The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 3,940.

Friday data show 1,097 patients being treated in hospital with 188 patients displaying serious symptoms.

Meanwhile in Estonia 464 new cases and 5 deaths were reported during the last 24 hours and in Lithuania the figures were over 1,900 cases and 30 deaths.
