Of the newly-confirmed cases, 3,967 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 6,150 were fully vaccinated.
Out of 22,819 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 44.3% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population dipped slightly for the fourth day in a row from 7,069 Friday to 7037.9 Saturday, further raising hopes that the peak of the infection wave may just have passed. Since the beginning of the pandemic 644,077 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

Seventeen more Covid-related deaths were confirmed. All of the victims were aged over 50 years. Five of the dead were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,208.
Friday hospital data from the National Health Service show 1,227 patients being treated in hospitals (down on 1,245 on Thursday). 187 patients were admitted and 185 were discharged during the previous 24 hours. 84 patients were displaying serious symptoms.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.
Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) still need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia at the website covidpass.lv until March 1, when the requirement will be dropped.
