Of those, 3,988 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 5,638 were fully vaccinated.
Of 28,166 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, over a third (34.2%) were positive, a figure consistent with the high totals of recent days. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population surged to a new record level, climbing from 3,904 Friday to 4250.7 Saturday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic 382,129 Covid-19 cases have been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.
Seven more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed, all of persons aged 50 years or over. Three of the dead were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 4,862.
Friday's data from the National Health Service show 799 patients being treated in hospital (up on 760 the previous day) with 131 patients admitted and 87 discharged during the last 24 hours. 82 patients are displaying serious symptoms.
In the other Baltic states, Estonia hit a new record of over 7,000 cases during the last 24 hours while Lithuania had over 11,000 cases.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.
Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
