Seven Covid-19 deaths Wednesday in Latvia

The Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said on May 18 that 164 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed during the last 24 hours and seven Covid-related deaths recorded.

Of 3,269 tests carried out altogether, 5% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 population fell from 170 Tuesday to 154 Wednesday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 826,506 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

 

 

All of the fatalities were people over 50 years of age and only one of them was fully vaccinated.

The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,811.

Tuesday hospital data from the National Health Service (NVD) show 198 patients being treated in hospitals, 8 of whom are displaying serious Covid symptoms.

A hotline – 8989 – allows people to both register for vaccination and receive answers to questions about the process of vaccination will continue to operate. The number for medical emergencies is 113.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme
