Seven Covid deaths Sunday in Latvia

On February 27, 2022, Latvia recorded 5,427 new cases of Covid-19, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of the newly-confirmed cases, 2,094 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 3,333 were fully vaccinated.

Out of 11,653 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 46.6% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population dipped for the fifth day in a row from 7,037 Saturday to 6,913 Sunday, further raising hopes that the peak of the infection wave has passed. Since the beginning of the pandemic 649,504 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

Seven more Covid-related deaths were confirmed. All of the victims were aged over 60 years. Three of the dead were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,215.

Saturday hospital data from the National Health Service show 1,143 patients being treated in hospitals (down on 1,227 on Friday). 147 patients were admitted and 212 were discharged during the previous 24 hours. 76 patients were displaying serious symptoms.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) still need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia at the website covidpass.lv until March 1, when the requirement will be dropped.
