Seven new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Latvia on Saturday

A total of seven confirmed new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Latvia on August 1, with the total number since the start of the pandemic rising to 1,238 on Saturday. 

No additional deaths were recorded with the fatality toll standing at 32.

The Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said 1,448 tests had been conducted during the previous 24-hour period. 

In total 199,956 tests have been carried out since February 29.

So far 1,052 patients have recovered from infection.

Four patients are in hospital, all described as having moderate symptoms of the disease.

SPKC also added that of the seven new cases, three had arrived from abroad, three had been in contact with others known to have the infection and in one case the source of infection was still being investigated.

The number for medical emergencies is 113, the number for enquiring about a COVID-19 test if you have developed some potential symptoms after returning from overseas or being in contact with someone confirmed as having coronavirus is 8303 and the SPKC COVID-19 advice helpline is 67387661.
