Of the newly-confirmed cases, 3,615 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 5,909 were fully vaccinated.
Out of 19,333 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 49.3% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population dipped for the seventh day in a row from 6,885 Monday to 6,801, reinforcing confidence that the peak of the latest infection wave has passed. Since the beginning of the pandemic 662,644 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

Sadly, 17 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All of the victims were aged over 40 years. Ten of the dead were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,241.
Monday hospital data from the National Health Service show 1,275 patients being treated in hospitals (up on 1,190 on Sunday). 123 patients were admitted and 21 were discharged during the previous 24 hours. 74 patients were displaying serious symptoms.
