Between June 18, when vaccination points opened in shopping malls, and July 19, a total of 20,946 injections, including first and second vaccine doses, have been carried out. Last week, 6,538 vaccine doses were administered to people at shopping malls.
On Monday, July 19, the vaccination points at shopping malls registered a record-high number of daily inoculations - 1,346, making up 33% of all vaccine doses administered on Monday.
Covid-19 vaccines are available at 13 shopping centers across Latvia, including Galerija Riga, Galerija Centrs, Akropole, Alfa, Riga Plaza and Origo in Riga, as well as shopping centers in Daugavpils, Liepāja, Madona, Valdlauči, Cēsis, and Jūrmala. More vaccination sites are scheduled to open soon in Rīga, Daugavpils, Liepāja, and other cities.
According to the National Health Service, Latvia currently has more supply than demand for vaccines. The vaccination project department said July 20 on Twitter that around 50,400 AstraZeneca vaccines are about to expire end of August, so if the activity of Latvian residents does not pick up, they will have to be donated. In total, Latvia currently has 693,469 different vaccines available.
