It is planned to vaccinate 928 employees of Rīga Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital against COVID-19 in three days, from 28 December to 30 December,  representative Janita Veinberga told LETA December 27.

Vaccination will take place at five vaccination points and out of 928 people who will receive the COVID-19 vaccine, 916 will be medical practitioners and 12 employees of the Emergency Medical Service (NMPD).

Veinberga said vaccination was planned so that employees could do it epidemiologically safely. Each employee has a specified time to arrive to prevent crowding.

She said that preparations for vaccination took time and a survey of employees was also conducted. 70% of participants in the survey indicated they wanted the vaccine.

Like elsewhere in the world, vaccination of medical workers is carried out on a voluntary basis.

Veinberga said that Stradiņš hospital received a higher number of vaccines than previously anticipated, so all employees who wish to receive the vaccine will be able to get it.

Vaccination against COVID-19 in Latvia is scheduled to begin December 28, starting with medical workers.
