Two Covid deaths, over 300 cases Wednesday in Latvia

The Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said May 11 that 346 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed during the last 24-hour period, and two Covid-related deaths recorded.

Of 3,721 tests carried out, 9.3% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 population fell from 235 Tuesday to 221 Wednesday. 

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 825,272 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

 

The two victims were both aged 80-89 years and one was unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated, the other vaccinated.

The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,794.

Tuesday hospital data from the National Health Service (NVD) show 219 patients being treated in hospitals, 8 of whom are displaying serious Covid symptoms.

A hotline – 8989 – allows people to both register for vaccination and receive answers to questions about the process of vaccination will continue to operate. The number for medical emergencies is 113.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme
