If you would like to give blood, you can find your nearest donation center via an interactive map on the VADC website which gives the times and places of both permanent and mobile blood donation points.
If a person has been in contact with people suspected of having COVID-19, blood should not be donated for 14 days. After vaccination against Covid-19 donors are invited to wait at least 7 days. Blood can be donated by people who feel well and are confident about their health. Before arriving at one of the donation sites, VADC asks people to get acquainted with the current information for donors on the VADC website www.donors.lv or by calling the VADC toll-free number 80000003 (on working days from 08.30 to 17.00).
In order to donate blood, you must have a valid identity document (passport, identity card) or any other personal identification document that contains the following information - personal identification number, name, surname and photo.
It is possible to donate blood in all regions of Latvia, and VADC will go on 45 blood collection trips in July.
"Latvian hospitals constantly have many seriously ill patients who need the help of blood donors. Unfortunately, accidents tend to occur at the most unforeseen moments and serious health problems cannot be planned outside the holiday season, so we ask residents to be responsive and find an opportunity to donate blood even in the warm months of the year,” said VADC director Egita Pole.
The State Blood Donor centre is a direct administration institution subordinate to the Ministry of Health. Its goal is to prepare blood and blood components, methodically manage, organize, and coordinate the preparation of blood products and blood components with other medical institutions.
