The Ministry said that such rules are intended for medical practitioners, employees of social care centers, educational establishments and others who need to carry out screening tests daily.
In view of the fact that mild cases may also occur after vaccination and in order to detect cases of asymptomatic infections, a vaccinated person is expected to perform a Covid-19 test within a week of contact with an infected person.
Also on Thursday, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Health presented a joint report to the government on the public benefits from vaccination against Covid-19 and possible motivational measures, providing that fully vaccinated persons could gradually be exempted from certain epidemiological safety measures:
In the first phase, certain fully vaccinated groups of society would be progressively exempted, for example, from compulsory screening in the workplace, quarantine, safety measures in social care centers, etc.
In the second phase, it would be decided to grant exemptions to the general vaccinated public. For example, it is planned to allow sports and cultural events, catering, fitness clubs and entertainment services, not using a mask in certain situations, etc.
The Ministry of Health said that additional benefits for vaccinated people in Latvia could be introduced when vaccines are available to every resident of Latvia and a large enough part of society is vaccinated.
