Vaccination pace approaches 50,000 per week in Latvia

Vaccination rates have been rising since mid-September, approaching 50,000 jabs per week, according to information from the National Health Service (NVD), LETA reported October 14.

  • In the week from September 6 to 12, a total of 32,780 people were vaccinated;
  • 34,405 between September 13 and 19;
  • 41,640 between September 20 and 26;
  • 44,250 between September 27 and October 3;
  • at least 49,399 between October 4 and 10.

In the past two days, the proportion of people having received at least one jab has increased by a percentage point, to 52%, according to NVD. Rates have been growing especially since last Friday when the government announced new restrictions particularly affecting the unvaccinated.

982,503 persons have had at least one jab against Covid-19 in Latvia, while the vaccination course has been completed by 911,039 people, corresponding to 48.4% of Latvia's population.
