Vaccination still going slow in Latvia

Take note – story published 2 years ago

Last week, the pace of vaccination against Covid-19 in Latvia remained low, with around 4,700 people vaccinated on average per day, LETA reported August 30.

Vaccination pace was lowest in Midsummer week when on average 4,549 people were vaccinated daily, but the numbers have not been much higher all summer.

On Sunday, August 29, only 843 people were vaccinated against Covid-19, of which 493 received the first dose of the vaccine, 331 the second, while 19 were vaccinated with the single-dose shot of Johnson & Johnson (J & J).

National Health Service's statistics on the last few days could still change, as not all medics enter data on their vaccines into the single database immediately.

466 of last week's first doses were produced by 466 Pfizer/BioNTech, 25 by Moderna, two by AstraZeneca and 19 by J & J.

By Sunday, a total of 856,987 doses of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine have been used in Latvia, 294,302 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, 232,127 doses of Moderna vaccine, and 112,629 doses of J & J vaccine.

755,922 people have completed the vaccination process in Latvia.
