Wednesday sees 25 Covid-19 deaths in Latvia

On December 8 another 796 new cases of Covid-19 infection were added to Latvia's total, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). 

Of the new cases, 438 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 358 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 259,215. 

Of the 11,389 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 7.0% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population dropped from 563.1 Tuesday to 537.6 Wednesday.

 

Unfortunately, 25 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All of the victims were aged over 50 years. Six of the fatalities were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,325.

Tuesday data show 676 patients being treated in hospital with 124 patients displaying serious symptoms.

In Estonia the last 24 hours brought 469 cases and 10 deaths while in Lithuania there were 1,982 cases and 10 deaths.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia.
