Weekly Covid hospitalization down 8% in Latvia

Last week, from October 17 to 23, the number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals decreased by 8%, the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said on October 24.

Data show that last week the average number of patients per day with the primary diagnosis of Covid-19 was 145 (165 the week before).

Last week, the number of new cases of Covid-19 decreased by 15.7% compared to the previous week. 4,373 new cases of Covid-19 were reported.

During the previous week, the number of cases of Covid-19 decreased in all regions of Latvia. In all age groups, the incidence of Covid-19 continues to decrease, but in the age group from 10 to 19 years the reduction is no longer pronounced. There is a reduction in morbidity not only in Latvia but also in general across Europe.

The SPKC also recalled that the modified vaccines against Covid-19 are available at family doctors' practices and vaccination offices, and it is currently possible to vaccinate against influenza at the same time.
