Weekly vaccination pace still upheld by boosters in Latvia

The weekly vaccination pace fell last week in Latvia with most of the vaccines administered being boosters, according to the National Health Service's data compiled by LETA January 24.

Last week, a total of 48,338 people were vaccinated against Covid-19 in Latvia, including 4,722 receiving a first dose, 3,556 getting the second dose, while 40,060 got the booster An average of 6,906 people a day got the shot (9,225 the week before). The latest statistics may still change.

 70.63% of the country's population have started vaccination so far and 67.75% have finished primary vaccination. Around 32.07% of those vaccinated have the booster dose. 

Among Latvia's adult population, vaccination against Covid-19 has been completed by 79.03%, while 26.79% have the booster.

Meanwhile, the vaccination against Covid-19 among 5-11-year-olds is still relatively slow, with 6,263 or 4.42% of the children of this age group receiving the first dose.
