Last week, at least 78,207 people were vaccinated against Covid-19 in Latvia, an average of 11,173 people per day, which is 6% less than in the last week, when an average of 11,955 people per day received jabs against Covid-19. It is still well above the rates of a month ago, when an average of 6,387 people a day were vaccinated in Latvia.
Meanwhile, the head of the National Health Service's Vaccination Project, Eva Juhņēviča, said in an interview on Latvian Television Monday morning that interest in vaccinations against Covid-19 has been rising in recent weeks. The steepest increases are in age groups 18 to 29, 50 to 59 and 60 to 69.
On Sunday, at least 2,132 people received jabs against Covid-19, including 1,089 people getting the first jab, while the 319 people got the second and 667 people were vaccinated with a Johnson & Johnson vaccine requiring only one dose. A further 57 people received a booster dose for strengthening their immunity.
A total of 1,095,128 persons have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in Latvia, while the vaccination course has been completed by 973,762 people, corresponding to 51.7% of Latvia's population, using the Central Statistical Bureau (CSP) data on the estimated population in the country at the beginning of July 2021.
Using population data from early 2021, 60.6% of Latvian residents over the age of 18 have completed the vaccination process and 58.9% of the population aged 12 and over have vaccinated.
5,062 people, or 0.26% of the population, have been vaccinated with the booster.
