Following the government's decision to require many employees to vaccinate against Covid-19, vaccination activity has increased significantly in the past week, according to data from the National Health Service (NVD), LETA reported October 18.

Last week at least 73,000 people were vaccinated against Covid-19 in Latvia, or around 10,500 people per day. Compared to a week ago, around 7,300 people per day received jabs against Covid-19, but a month ago only 4,700 people were vaccinated on average daily.

At least 3,523 people received the vaccine on Sunday, including 2,161 people getting the first jab and 1,322 completing the course. Of those 976 people got the single-dose Janssen vaccine. A further 40 people have received a booster.

The number of people currently having completed the vaccination course is around 935,000, or about 49.7% of the population. The total number of people who have got at least one jab is around 1.02 million.

Around 2,300 people, or 0.14% of the population, have had the booster so far in Latvia.
