Ukraine starts every day with a moment of silence at 9 am to remember and honor all fallen soldiers. In solidarity with Ukraine and its people, the President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, the Speaker of the Saeima Daiga Mieriņa (Greens and Farmers Union), the Prime Minister Evika Siliņa (New Unity), and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže (New Unity) invite all Latvia to join in a moment of silence on November 19 at 9 am.
Local authorities and organizations are also invited to organize a moment of silence in various places in Latvia and to light 1,000 candles in honor of the victims.
We will also remember Latvian volunteer Vitalijs Smirnovs, who fell on October 1, 2023 in eastern Ukraine.
"Ukraine is fighting tirelessly every day. For more than two years, the Ukrainian people have resisted Russian aggression with admirable courage and perseverance. Latvia's support for Ukraine is strong and unwavering. Latvia and its people stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine in its struggle against the aggressor - Russia," the officials said in the statement.
