14 Iraqi citizens detained for illegally crossing eastern border

Last week Latvian border guards detained 14 Iraqi citizens in Latvia’s eastern Krāslava county for illegal border crossing, the State Border Guard told the press November 5.

Border guards, checking out information provided by the State Police and in cooperation with colleagues from Belarus, conducted operation Kordon 2018 and detained 14 Iraqi citizens on Kraslava-Kaplava road.

The trespassers have been handed to the Belarus authorities.

This year in total of 198 citizens of third countries have been detained for illegal border crossing, including 29 citizens of Iraq.
