Search continues for man lost at sea

On Saturday, the Estonian Joint Sea and Air Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC Tallinn) reported two people missing at sea, who were on their way from Roja, Latvia, to Ruhnu Island on jet skis. The State Police has confirmed that Jevgēņijs Kints has been found alive, while the search for the other man, Sergejs Tvauri, is still ongoing.

The police told LETA that the two men left Roja for the island of Ruhnu on jet skis at 10:10 on Saturday and disappeared into the sea at around 13:40.

On Saturday, a helicopter deployed by JRCC Tallinn found two unmanned jet skis at sea during search operations. After receiving the information, on the basis of an intergovernmental cooperation agreement on search and rescue at sea, the Latvian side deployed the navy patrol vessel P-09 "Rēzekne" to the scene. Estonian search and rescue units are also searching for the missing.

 According to State Police, Jevgēņijs Kints was found during the day on Sunday, having reached Ruhnu. 

The search is still on for Sergejs Tvauri, born in 1986, who was wearing a dark and red water safety vest, dark clothing all over, dark shoes and a dark and white helmet.

The police are appealing to anyone with any useful information that could help to locate them to call 110.
