The previously interrupted tram route 10 has been restored in both directions.
The call to the fire was received at 1:59 a.m. On arrival at the scene, it was found that the roof structures of a three-story non-occupied building with an area of 1,000 m2 and the third floor of the building with an area of 500 m2 were on fire.
A firefighter was injured and transferred to the Emergency Medical Service.
At 4:31 a.m., the fire was contained. Fire-fighting operations are ongoing.
Traffic is closed on the section of the street concerned.
Tram 10 in the Torņakalns area was also temporarily suspended, but has now been restored, Rīgas satiksmē said.
Over the past 24 hours, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received a total of 30 calls - seven for fire-fighting, 17 for rescue work, and six were false alarms.
