Fire at Domina shopping center in Rīga on Saturday

On Saturday at 18:19 the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received a call to Ieriķu Street in Riga, where a fire broke out at the Domina shopping center. Firefighters contained the spread of flames at 20:06, Latvian Radio and Latvian Television reported.

At the site of the event, the building's roof was found to be burning. The evacuation of people started before the arrival of the VUGD.

28 firefighters with eight specialized vehicles were working at the site of the event.

Domina Shopping said that the fire had occurred above the restaurant area at the B entrance.

The mall did not resume work on Saturday, but on Sunday the mall will operate in normal order.

As the technical director of the shopping center told Latvian Television, around 20:00 flames had already been extinguished and the fire was localized. There were around 1,200 visitors in the shop at the time of the fire. A heating boiler had caught fire, and flames spread through the vent chute.
