Uz Ukrainu nosūta apjomīgu palīdzības kravu

More aid on the way to Ukraine from Latvia

Computers, transformers, clothing, food and other things started their journey to Ukraine September 23 reported Latvian Television.

Various Latvian municipalities, companies and private individuals have donated. According to the Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia, the donated electricity transformers will be especially valuable when winter comes.

Transformers that once worked for the Rīga water company are being loaded into trucks. The transformers weigh around 3 tonnes, which means that they cannot all be put on one truck due to their weight. The transformers will now travel from Rīga to the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv, where much of the aid from Latvia is directed.

"Unfortunately, another cold season during the war is approaching. And everyone who lives in Ukraine, during the periods when there is no energy, understands how important this resource is for all of us," said Anatolii Kutsevol, Ukrainian ambassador to Latvia.

Six cars of the Riga municipality will also go to the Chernihiv region, while Kherson will be the destination for 60 computers.

"The cars and computers that the Riga City Council is currently donating to Ukraine are, of course, things used by our municipality, but in good technical condition so that they can continue their second life in Ukraine," explained Rīga Vice Mayor Edvards Ratnieks (National Alliance).

Other municipalities have also donated. For example, a fire truck from Saldus will also go to Ukraine in this particular shipment. Electrical equipment, food, clothing and many other things were donated by others.
