72% of Latvians using e-services

About 72% of the Latvian population uses e-services - from filing tax returns to internet banking - and of them 60% use e-services offered by the state and municipality, according to a survey by the Ministry for Environmental Protection and Regional Development (VARAM) and the Aptauju centrs statistics company. 

According to the survey, the amount of the people who use e-services hasn't changed, whilst those who use the state's e-services has grown by 7%, reaching 60%. Services that are available both online and on government premises have become 8% more popular and are now used online 38% of the time.

The most popular services are provided by the State Revenue Service (VID), the e-services of which have been used in the last six months by 27.7% of Latvians, the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD), used by 16.9% and municipality (local) e-services, used by 10.5% respectively. 

The survey was conducted with 1000 respondents interviewed face-to-face throughout Latvia. The respondents were 18 to 74 years old and were interviewed in June 2015.
