Arrivals in Latvia might be required to have a negative COVID-19 test

It is 'highly likely' that the government will decide to impose a rule that arrivals from abroad show a negative COVID-19 test, Health Minister Ilze Viņķele said December 29 on Latvian Television.

On Wednesday the government will also consider possible renewal of traffic with Great Britain. Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš said in the past that all three Baltic States would decide in a coordinated manner and do not yet know when this might happen.

According to Viņķele, arrivals from the United Kingdom will undergo COVID-19 tests at the airport due to the spread of a new, more contagious type of coronavirus in this country. Meanwhile, visitors from other countries will be required to show a negative COVID-19 test.

On Wednesday, the government will clarify details related to the introduction of curfew and other rules regarding COVID-19.
