NEPLP head Dace Ķezbere stressed that the council has not revoked but just postponed its decision.
"... currently the management of Latvian Radio 5 not only does not support but practically opposes the decision, and we understand that we won't get to a suitable resolution this way. We are prepared to continue discussing this decision," said NEPLP member Patriks Grīva.
However, despite Latvian Radio's request, the broadcast watchdog will not change the supervisory areas of each of the board members so NEPLP member Ivars Āboliņš will still oversee Latvian Radio.
The national broadcast watchdog has come increasingly at odds with the public Latvian Radio after Latvia's national youth radio station, pieci.lv (with which LSM is affiliated) reacted with surprise to moves by its regulator to make it play almost exclusively Latvia-made music.
NEPLP believes the proportion or percentage of Latvian to foreign music should be 90-10.
As reported, on July 13 Latvian Radio strongly criticized two members of the national media watchdog, specifically Ivars Āboliņš and Gunta Līdaka, who had spoken of a "dramatic scene" in the administration of public radio and suggested sweeping changes need to be made to remedy allegedly poor management and politically-influenced figures.
LSM news portals in Latvian, English and Russian are part of the same umbrella public service organization as Latvian Radio and Latvian TV.
