Car drives into river Daugava, one dead

On Monday, October 25, a car was found sunk in the Daugava near Akmens bridge in Rīga, with one dead inside, Latvian Television reported.

The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received a call at 13:30 that a car had driven in the river. The diver team found the car around 20 meters from the coast and five meters deep.

State Police representative Līna Kaļķe confirmed that it was a Subaru vehicle, and it had entered the Daugava from AB Dambis through the barrier fence. An eyewitness video was also released.
