Contacts, not education matters in job market

Most of Latvia's inhabitants - 65.1%, to be exact - think that knowing the right people is more important than education when looking for a job, according to a survey by the social barometer SKDS.

While 26.1% think that a good education is what matters when looking for a job. The rest - 8.8% - said that it's hard to tell. 

In comparison with a similar survey conducted ten years ago, this year the number of people who think that contacts matter more than being educated has grown by 2.3%.
