On Friday, November 5, an Emergency Medical Service (NMPD) vehicle collided with a car at the intersection of Dzirciema Street and Jūrmalas gatve.

The NMPD van also had a patient inside at the time of the accident. The van flipped on its side as a result of the crash. Medical staff sustained mild and moderate injuries. The patient was unharmed.

“At the time of the accident, the brigade who suffered the accident was on its way to the medical facility, and thus there was a patient. The patient, fortunately, has not experienced additional injuries in the accident. He was taken over by another brigade which was on another call at the same time and was taken to the hospital in a stable condition,” NMPD spokeswoman Inga Vītola told Latvian Radio.

The staff were taken to a medical treatment facility. The conditions of the event were still being clarified but it is known that the sirens and light signals were on at the time of the accident.
