Take note – story published 2 years ago

Social networking company Facebook, which recently announceed a name change to 'Meta', has blocked the popular Latvian anti-vax group "Vakcīnrealitāte Latvijā" (Vaccine reality in Latvia) which has been spreading false statements about all kinds of vaccines, Latvian Radio reported November 17.

The group has been active for over two years, distributing a variety of disinformation and myths about vaccines. Its most important platform was Facebook. During the pandemic, activists from this group have actively applied other methods of spreading false information, such as printing misleading booklets and trying to dissuade people from vaccinating.

The State Police have been informed several times but have not taken action under the pretext that the criminal law does not provide for liability for the dissemination of false messages. On Wednesday, November 17, Facebook blocked this page.
