Fare zone train tickets to be introduced starting April

Take note – story published 8 years ago

Starting from April 1 the Passenger Rail company will start selling electric train tickets based on fare zones, reported Latvian Radio's Edgars Kupčs Tuesday.

The longest routes will have up to five fare zones, replacing separate tickets for every stop.

The new way of calculating fares is to make buying tickets easier. It's also planned to introduce new monthly tickets as well as tickets valid for a smaller period of time, like three or four days.

Fare zones will appear on four electric rail routes, with three to five zones on each route.

Passengers will have to pay either a little more or a little less for their ticket, depending on their usual stop.
