The collegium website has a searchable list of over 100 lawyers and their assistants ready to offer consultations regarding financial and other sector issues in Rīga and other cities. Those who have previously been unable to receive legal advice are especially invited to apply for consultations. According to Latvian Council of Sworn Advocates President Jānis Rozenbergs 1,000 free consultations were offered during last year's Advocacy Days.
“There's currently a lot of uncertainty in the financial sector regarding various restrictive measures related to restricting the legalization of illegal assets. In addition, we know that the government is looking at a plan where these conditions would become more drastic,” said Rozenbergs.
How can I apply for a consultation?
- Find the list of participating lawyers with their hours and contact information at www.advokatura.lv (currently only available in Latvian)
- Contact your chosen lawyer individually and agree to a consultation time and communication method
- Spaces are limited, so don't wait till the last minute and cancel your reservation if you can't make it
- Call 25215711 from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. if you have any technical issues
Advocacy Days began in 2010 with the aim of promoting the main mission of the legal profession: working for the benefit of society by conscientiously offering practical advice. The Latvian Collegium of Sworn Advocates is an independent professional corporation of Latvian sworn advocates, which unites all sworn advocates practising in Latvia and has been operating for 99 years. Former Latvian Presidents Jānis Čakste were also sworn advocates.
