House on fire in Rīga; traffic suspended

A fire has broken out in a three-story residential building in Rīga, Pētersalas Street, on January 14. One casualty has been reported.

Thursday morning at 04:25 The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received an call to the Northern District of Rīga, where a three-story building burned on Pētersalas Street.

Due to traffic restrictions, Rīga Transport said that route 9 trams are not in operation. The route 5 tram movement has also been changed.

Information at VUGD's disposal shows 1 dead, 2 injured and 14 evacuated people. One of the injured people is a firefighter. The containment of the fire continues. The burning area is still being cleared.
