Household gas prices down next year

Households will have to pay less for natural gas from January 1 to June 30 next year, reported LETA Thursday.

The tariff for households with annual natural gas consumption of up to 500 cubic meters will decrease 2.4 percent to EUR 584.84 per 1,000 cubic meters, value added tax and excise tax not included.

The tariff for households that use natural gas for heating purposes and consume 500 to 25,000 cubic meters of gas a year will fall 4 percent to EUR 341.03 per 1,000 cubic meters, without VAT and excise tax.

Latvijas Gaze earned EUR 32.03 million in profit in 2014, which was 0.4 percent less when compared to 2013 when the company posted EUR 32.15 million in profit. The company's net profitability was at 6.4 percent in 2014 and 5.6 percent in 2013.

Germany's E.ON Ruhrgas International GmbH owns 47.2 percent of Latvijas Gaze shares, Russia's Gazprom has 34 percent and Itera Latvija 16 percent.
