Hundreds participate in "Shadows day" across Latvia

February 12 is the annual "Shadows day" (Ēnu diena) in Latvia, a day on which students get to "shadow" professionals in their jobs to get some idea of what they do in a typical working day.

As always, social media provides plenty of evidence of who is shadowing whom today, with everyone from the President downwards getting the chance to interact with students of various ages and reveal the tricks of their trades.

Not for the first time, the Saeima is full of shadows.

Meanwhile at Rīga Castle, President Egils Levits has a larger retinue than usual.

Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs has no fewer than nine shadows.

Agriculture Minister Kaspars Gerhards has come face to face with his shadows across a table.

Finance Minister Janis Reirs has so many shadows, he may need his economists to count them for him.

Justice Minister Jānis Bordāns was showing his shadows around the cabinet chamber.

The EU House added a European dimension to the shadows.

And it's not only the world of politics that is participating. These students are having a day at the Rīga bourse.

You can find plenty more examples of shadows out and about by searching using the #Ēnudiena hashtag.
