Latvia has been ranked 22nd in the Doing Business 2016 report published Tuesday. Latvia and Estonia have retained their last year's place, while Lithuania has moved up a position.

Latvia was ranked 22rd in the previous rating; Lithuania was ranked 21st and has now risen to the 20th; and Estonia is 16th above Ireland.

Latvia was commended by the World Bank for several legislation changes in areas such as improving the sharing of credit information, making it easier to register property and enforce contracts.

Latvia lost points for making dealing with construction permits more time-consuming and paying some taxes more complicated.
