Latvia sends Border Guard and police unit to Greece

On Saturday 12 Latvian Border Guard and 20 officers of the Latvian State Police left for the Greek island of Lesbos to help dealing with the migration crisis, Interior Ministry spokeswoman Daiga Holma told LSM Monday.

The officials will be participating in the operation Frontex that aims to return irregular immigrants from Greece to Turkey.

The Latvian State Border Guard and the Latvian State Police responded to the invitation by Frontex. The officers will be participating in the operation until April 30.
