Latvian museums post record visitor numbers in 2015

Over three million people visited accredited museums in Latvia last year in what was the busiest year ever for the country's museums, reported LETA Tuesday.

During a Saeima Education, Culture and Science Committee meeting today, Ministry of Culture State Secretary Sandis Voldins emphasized that this was achieved despite the Latvian National Museum of History, Riga Motor Museum, as well as several others being closed for most of the year due to renovation.

Voldins also pointed out that Latvian theaters and the Latvian National Opera and Ballet have shown good attendance results between 2013 and 2015 despite the declining population. He said that their revenue has also been on the increase.
